Congratulations to Florida School for the Deaf and Blind (FSDB) 8th-grade students Dan Pletenets and Katarzyna Horvath for breaking two FSDB swim team records. Pletenets set a new 100-yard breaststroke record of 1:06.72 on October 16, 2018, beating the previous time of 1:07.71 set in 1988 by Brian Baell. Two weeks later, he broke his own record with a new time of 1:05.87. On October 30, 2018, Horvath set a new record in the 50-yard freestyle of 29.42, beating the previous time of 29.89 set by Assistant Swim Coach Brooke Stanfield in 2010. Pletenets now has his sights set on the 500-yard freestyle record, which is currently held by Walter Tyler with a time of 5:21.33 set in 1983.
