Dakeyan Chá Dré Graham visited FSDB last month, as part of his yearlong role as 2019-2020 Florida Teacher of the Year. Currently serving as the Christa McAuliffe Ambassador for Education, Dr. Dré Graham is working to create greater public awareness of Florida's exceptional teachers and the education profession. He is Director of Instrumental Studies at his alma mater, C. Leon King High School, where he has been an educator for ten years.

Yvonne Samuels, 2019-2020 FSDB Teacher of the Year, gave a welcoming hug to Dr. Graham just before she and her Deaf Elementary School students departed on a field trip. He then joined FSDB President Dr. Jeanne Glidden Prickett and Parent Information Specialist Rick Coleman for an "incredible" tour of the 80-plus acre campus and visits to Blind Elementary and Middle School classrooms.

Said Graham on his Facebook page, "What. An. Experience. I had the chance to sit in on a class and met five of the most amazing students—I even received a lesson on beginner's braille! I cannot wait to return to FSDB and learn more!"

Dr. Prickett said, "It was a special honor to welcome Dr. Dré Graham to FSDB, and we can see why he is the current Florida Teacher of the Year. When he returns, we look forward to demonstrating how students at FSDB learn to do more, be more, and achieve more—fulfilling our vision of preparing them for a lifetime of success."
