FSDB Expanded Core Curriculum Summer Academies

The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) is offering two Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) Academies during June 2020—at no cost, with transportation and dormitory opportunities—for eligible Florida students who are deaf/hard of hearing or blind/visually impaired. The application deadline is April 15, 2020. Apply early, as space is limited.


ECC Summer Academy for DHH Students

June 15-19, 2020 (ages 9-12) & June 22-26, 2020 (ages 13-16)


The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) will host two Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) Summer Academies during June 2020 on its St. Augustine campus—at no cost for eligible Florida students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Both academies focus on leadership, self-advocacy, digital citizenship, and career education skills development. Participants will enjoy a variety of recreation and leisure activities, including social experiences. Academy presenters and instructors are certified teachers trained to work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

ECC Summer Academy for BVI Students

June 15-26, 2020 (ages 9-16)


The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) will host a two-week Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) Summer Academy during June 2020 on its St. Augustine campus—at no cost for eligible Florida students ages 9-16 who are blind or visually impaired. The academy focuses on several areas, including assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills development. Participants will enjoy a variety of recreation and leisure activities, including social experiences. Academy presenters and instructors are certified teachers as well as orientation and mobility specialists trained to work with students who are blind or visually impaired.
