Greetings from Vaill Hall!

We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful summer break! We are excited to have our dorm family together again after a fun-filled summer! Whether your child is returning or joining us for the first time, we look forward to a season full of growth, joy, and memorable moments.

Here’s to a fantastic start to the school year!

Activities

All the students have been enjoying playing board games, Uno, having outside playtime, watching movies, and engaging in relaxing activities after homework.

The girls in 1 East pod have been enjoying various creative activities. They are learning to show respect to staff and follow directions. One of their favorite games is Uno, which teaches them important skills such as taking turns, matching colors and numbers, and following the game's rules.

Meanwhile, the girls in the 2 North and 2 West pods have also enjoyed playing Uno and other board games, while socializing with their peers.

In addition to our games, we provide our students with essential social-emotional learning experiences. They have been focusing on understanding personal boundaries and demonstrating empathy towards others. These lessons are key in fostering a respectful and caring dorm environment as we begin the year. Many evenings, the students socialize with one another and enjoy taking turns selecting movies to watch.

The Annex boys and the 1 West boys have been learning the rules and routines, as well as practicing cleaning, to enhance their independent living skills. They are doing an excellent job getting along with each other and using teamwork to ensure that the nightly cleanup runs smoothly. Additionally, they are learning to play respectfully and enjoy going outside to play, especially basketball.

Notices

• Please watch for permission forms for dance and other activities that will be sent home in your child’s luggage or backpack.

• Please remember to send a swimsuit for your child, as we will have swimming as part of the dorm time and school activities.

• Finally, don’t forget to include snacks for our after-school and evening snack times. Individually packaged items are encouraged.
