Greetings from Vaill Hall,

Students have been excited to spend the Dragon Dollars they earn for positive behavior at our dorm store. The store offers snacks, toys, activity books, and decorations, giving students a fun way to make choices and practice basic money-handling skills. It is a fun way to encourage responsibility and reinforce good habits.

Many of our groups have been enjoying time together in the dorm, playing outside and playing games like Uno. Movie nights have been a favorite reward for positive behavior, giving students a chance to relax, have fun, and strengthen their social skills. Some of the groups have also earned the opportunity to play on the Nintendo Switch with their friends. This helps develop their social skills and good sportsmanship.

2nd floor North pod got into the Thanksgiving spirit with colorful holiday-themed artwork. While students colored, we shared what we’re thankful for and talked about what gratitude means. It was an activity full of creativity and great conversations.

The Annex boys have been getting crafty with festive beaded holiday decorations. The boys have been practicing baking. Everyone was curious about measuring and mixing, so next time we’ll see just how much they can do on their own. They are also collecting pinecones to turn into mini trees for holiday decorating, bringing a little nature indoors.

Parents: As temperatures continue to drop here in St. Augustine, we kindly ask that you check your child’s suitcase to ensure they have appropriate winter clothing, including a warm jacket. Please also take a moment to review their footwear, as many of our students are growing quickly and may need updated sizes. Our goal is to keep every student comfortable and warm during the colder weather.

Also please ensure your child has snacks and other personal items they may need as well.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to Katherine Youngren.

We wish you and your family a wonderful Fall Break, beginning November 21, when all students head home to enjoy the holidays.
