Vaill April Newsletter 4.17.26

Greetings from Vaill Hall,

The 2nd Floor North girls enjoyed a hands-on cooking experience as they made pretzels from scratch with guidance from staff. This fun and engaging activity supported the development of skills, such as following multi step directions, measuring ingredients, and practicing kitchen safety. Working together in the kitchen also encouraged teamwork, communication and problem-solving as students took turns and supported one another throughout the process. The girls were proud of their creations and they got a tasty snack for their hard work.

The 2nd Floor East boys (3rd grade) had a fun and creative afternoon designing window decorations and decorations using foam sheets. This activity encouraged the development of their fine motor skills, and creativity, as they cut, and assembled their projects. The boys had a great time exploring the foam materials and enjoying a fun, low‑pressure activity with friends.

The Vaill Art Club hosted a cheerful activity for the entire dorm. Students enjoyed dyeing foam eggs and crafting adorable bunnies using spoons and pipe cleaners. The activity supported skills like individual creativity and following multi‑step directions, all while encouraging students to work carefully and thoughtfully. The activity also encouraged positive social interactions as students worked alongside peers and staff in a relaxed, enjoyable setting. Everyone had fun being creative and sharing their finished projects, making it a great way to build skills while strengthening our dorm community.

The Vaill Annex boys have continued to use their Behavior Rewards Program as a positive motivator, and we are proud of the boys’ efforts and successes. Many students have demonstrated increased flexibility and confidence by trying new foods—especially vegetables—and making healthy choices such as drinking milk without added sugar at dinner. These moments encourage independence, decision-making, and self-regulation while promoting lifelong healthy habits.

Notices:

The dorm is planning some end-of-the-year activities and trips. Some of them will need permission forms. Please keep an eye out for permission forms that may be sent home if you would like your child to participate in off-campus trips.

As the end of the year approaches, we kindly ask families to avoid sending extra or unnecessary items to school. We will be sending extra items home to help reduce the clutter that has built up over the year. Thank you for your support!
