DHS Boarding Newsletter: August 2025

What a great first week of school!!! Everyone has been remarkably busy getting to know each other and the various new routines.

Curriculum

These first few weeks of school, we will continue focusing on Emergency Preparedness, Weather Safety, Off-Campus training and the various protocols and procedures associated with each domain.

Positive Behavior Incentive Support (PBIS)

We will have our kick-off in September. The High School girls and boys will be doing the kick-off together.

August Character Objective

Resiliency: Coming back from a challenge and or setback.

Sports Program

Fall sports are in full swing. We have many of our High School students playing sports this year. They are all looking forward to their first game of the season.  Many of them are tired from practice. They are out of shape from the summer and striving to get back into the groove of practicing daily and getting their bodies ready for the season. We are all looking forward to watching the different games this year.

Reminders

  • Photography, videography, and any form of video calls, including FaceTime, are strictly prohibited in students' bedrooms and bathrooms.

  • Study hours are daily from 6 PM to 7 PM. Please avoid calling or texting your child during this time, as they are focusing on their homework and studying. If there is an emergency, please get in touch with the staff.

  • Please remember to send your students with money. When we walk off campus the girls sometimes like to order food. We suggest a prepaid debit card so they can learn the importance of budgeting their money.

  • If you are ordering food or groceries for your child, please include your child's name on the order. Additionally, inform the staff that an order is on the way. This notification is essential for us to alert the gate about the incoming delivery, which will help prevent the order being received or delay the delivery driver's time.

  • Lastly, please ensure that your student's personal hygiene items are stocked in the dorm: pads, feminine wipes, bath soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, and any other personal items they are used to having at home daily.
