We are still working on a curriculum focused skill such as off-campus behavior, smart decision-making, and building independence. Recently, a small group of students joined staff on a field trip where they practiced budgeting while dining out. It was practical experience, and we’re planning more outings like this to reinforce real-world skills.

Coming up, we’re planning our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBiS) program with a kickoff celebration for all high school students. Each month, we’ll spotlight a positive behavior characteristic, like responsibility, kindness, or teamwork. Students who show these characteristics will earn tickets they can redeem them for snacks, drinks, and other fun items from our PBiS store. In addition to these learning opportunities, our students are busy with tutoring sessions, sports, and club activities.

Citizenship – September characteristic trait for the month. Citizenship means to help our neighbors, community and nation. We are teaching our students to respect others, take responsibility, and to help make our school and community a better place.

Curriculum – Students can show citizenship in many ways, such as helping with community clean-up projects, picking up trash around campus, assisting younger students with reading, or volunteering to help and mentor younger students.

Students of the Month of August were Juliana S. and Jasmine C. They showed great character by being respectful, responsible, and helping others.

Reminders – To help your student to be prepared and comfortable, we ask that you send spending money for snacks. Please make sure they have all the personal hygiene items they will need.
