James Hall Girls

This month, our focus is on October themes and Halloween traditions. Students will explore seasonal changes, cultural celebrations, and creative expression through hands-on activities such as pumpkin decorating, fall crafts, and safe Halloween fun.

Key Learning Goals:

  • Recognize seasonal changes in October

  • Learn the traditions of Halloween

  • Practice safety and responsibility during seasonal events

  • Express creatively through costumes, crafts, and stories

Positive Behavior Incentive Support

We are reinforcing Honest behavior expectations this month by connecting them to the fall-Halloween season:

Be Respectful: Appreciate everyone’s costumes, creativity, and traditions.
Be Responsible: Clean up after activities and make safe choices.

Students demonstrating these Honest values will earn special October incentives (Stickers, certificates, or themed rewards).

Rhyne Hall Boys

The past two weeks have been full of energy, creativity, and cool experiences as our boys enjoyed the Halloween spirit and continued to grow through hands-on learning and service.

Dorm & Community Spirit

The boys helped staff decorate the dorm for Halloween. They also participated in several Halloween-themed community service projects, including:

  • Making candied apples with edible Halloween decorations

  • Designing and packing treat bags filled with candy and small toys

  • Delivering treats to elementary students and performing ASL storytelling

  • Sharing appreciation gifts with the DSL office, dorm supervisors, and HCC nurses

These activities spread joy and helped our students practice teamwork, creativity, and gratitude.

Curriculum Highlights

In the kitchen, students learned valuable life skills by preparing homemade mini meatballs and apple pies. These lessons focused on kitchen safety, food preparation, and nutrition. They also engaged in thoughtful discussions about reading nutrition labels and the importance of exercise for both physical and mental health. Additionally, some students explored self-care routines and the importance of good hygiene.

Mentorship & Leadership

Several boys continued their involvement in our mentorship program, spending time with middle school students and building positive connections through shared activities and teamwork-focused guidance.

Character Focus: Honesty

Our October character objective is Honesty. Throughout the month, we are discussing what it means to be honest, why it matters, and how it builds trust and respect in our community.

Clubs & Enrichment

Tutoring sessions, library nights, and extracurriculars are going strong. The school officially launched the E-Sports Club this week, and the boys were excited to join in. Many enjoyed the first session and are already looking forward to the next one.

From festive fun to meaningful mentorship, the boys have shown great character and spirit. We look forward to supporting them as they continue to thrive this season.
