April’s Character Counts is Mentorship. Mentorship means giving or asking for guidance or support. Throughout the year, we have had a couple of girls go over to the Middle School dorm to mentor some of the girls. From time to time, middle school girls have reached out to us for support.
For community service, the girls stuffed plastic Easter Eggs for a youth group at a local church. Some girls went to a local high school for their Silent Night ASL event to help hearing students who are learning ASL with their skills. They played games, had dinner, and had snacks with the students.

Our students of the month for March were Glorieris MP and Jordan S. These two young ladies are always willing to help others and the staff. They show what PBS really means. Kudos to the two of them.

As we are approaching the end of the school year, I am encouraging our students to bring home things they don’t need or use. Please remember the buses only allow 2 boxes per student per trip. If you have an extra suitcase sitting around, send it with your student to bring some of their things home.
May 14th will be our End of the Year dorm party. We have planned a cookout and some yard games for the kids to enjoy.

As we move closer to the end of the school year, our students are staying busy and growing every day. Between tutoring, learning life skills, and giving back through community service, the boys continue to thrive and make memories.
The highlight this month was fishing by our beautiful campus dock. Fishing taught the boys patience, discipline, teamwork, and problemsolving, all while enjoying the peaceful outdoors. It was a perfect moment to slow down and build confidence outside the classroom.

The boys also had a special opportunity to step outside and catch a glimpse of the Artemis II launch. Watching history in the making sparked curiosity and excitement about science, space, and future exploration, connecting real world events to their learning in a powerful way.
Our Character of the Month: Mentorship has been a big focus. Staff are guiding the boys on how to give and ask for support, guidance, and leadership. In addition, students learned lifesaving preparedness skills, including how to stay safe during hurricanes, fires, and tornadoes, a valuable lesson in responsibility and awareness.
Community service continued at Nease High School’s Silent Event, where our boys reconnected with ASL students. They enjoyed games, pizza, and ice cream while practicing sign language and social skills.

Some of the boys also helped organize donated clothing in the storage room, showing responsibility and teamwork. If your son is missing any clothing items needed for school, we may already have what he needs ready for him.
Looking ahead, Prom is on April 30th, and the excitement is growing. Staff will be working closely with the boys to help them prepare. Please contact us if you have any questions about the prom
Lastly, as the school year wraps up, please remind your son to pack a little each Friday. This will help avoid bringing home many bags and boxes on the last day.
