James Hall News
The girls have been doing some incredible work this month, focusing on building strong interpersonal skills and learning healthy ways to communicate their emotions. Through group discussions and activities, students have been practicing how to express their feelings when facing challenges and developing strategies to better advocate for themselves during difficult days or mental health crises. We are proud of the courage and growth they continue to demonstrate as they build these important life skills.
Our commitment to giving back to the community has also been on full display. The girls recently spread some birthday cheer by creating a special birthday card and decorating their supervisor's office. Looking ahead, several students will participate in our annual Halloween candy giveaway for elementary students, while others will assist with preparing food for the High School Halloween Party as part of their ongoing community service efforts. We love seeing our students make a positive impact on campus while learning the value of service and teamwork.
Students of the Month
A huge congratulations to Jordan S. and Chelsea B. for earning Student of the Month honors. Both students have consistently demonstrated kindness, leadership, respect, and a willingness to help their peers. Their positive attitudes and respect for staff have made them excellent role models within our residence community. We are incredibly proud of both of them.

Coming Up This Month
There are plenty of exciting events on the horizon.
The Fire Hydrant Safety Presentation, presented by St. Johns County Fire Rescue, took place this week. Our high school students enjoyed learning important fire safety skills and had the opportunity to practice using a fire extinguisher.
Homecoming festivities, including the football game and Homecoming Dance, were a highlight of the week. Students enthusiastically participated in the daily spirit themes and are excited to celebrate together at the dance.
The Halloween Candy Giveaway for our elementary students will take place during the last week of October. Students will decorate a house in Kids Town and hand out candy to our younger students.
The High School Halloween Party will also take place during the last week of October and promises to be filled with fun, food, and school spirit.
As we move into a busy and exciting season, we look forward to celebrating our students' achievements, creating memorable experiences, and continuing to support their growth both inside and outside of the residence hall. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Great Things Are Happening with Our High School Boys!
It has been a busy and exciting couple of weeks in Rhyne Hall! Our high school boys have been learning, growing, supporting one another, and having plenty of fun along the way.
Students of the Month
Congratulations to Alexander B. and Keimarion R. for being named our Rhyne Hall Students of the Month! We are very proud of the effort they put in each day and the positive example they set for the other boys. Keep up the great work!

High School Boys Becoming Mentors
Our high school boys recently had an opportunity to serve as mentors to our middle school boys. During a mentorship workshop, the younger students asked questions about what life is like in the high school dorm and what they can expect as they get older. It was a great opportunity for our high school students to share their experiences and encourage the younger boys.
Learning Life Skills at Costco
Even a shopping trip can become a learning experience! During a recent trip to Costco, the boys practiced budgeting, decision-making, and responsible spending. Of course, they also had a good laugh when they discovered Christmas decorations already on display before Halloween!

Homemade Laundry Detergent? Yes, They Made It!
As part of our independent living curriculum, the boys learned how to make their own laundry detergent. They enjoyed the hands-on activity and comparing homemade detergent with store-bought brands. It was a fun way to learn a practical household skill while also thinking about cost and affordability.

Building Independence
The boys have been reviewing dorm expectations and using campus maps to become more familiar with different buildings and stores around campus. Knowing how to navigate campus confidently is another important step toward greater independence.
Cheering Each Other On
There has also been plenty of time for fun at the pool! One of the highlights has been watching the boys encourage Lovie B. as he continues learning how to swim. His dorm brothers have enjoyed cheering him on and celebrating his progress. We love seeing our boys support one another!

Character Matters
Honesty is our character trait of the month. The boys have been talking about what it means to tell the truth, take responsibility for their actions, and build trust with others. They have also discussed positive ways to respond when someone is rude or disrespectful while remaining calm and respectful themselves.
Preparing for Life After High School
Money management and time management continue to be important areas of focus. The boys are practicing how to stay within a budget, make smart spending choices, and understand the importance of tracking expenses. Some students have also practiced measuring through drawing activities, building patience, accuracy, and attention to detail. They have also learned basic first aid skills and participated in recreational activities.
Homecoming Week!
And finally, it is Homecoming Week! The boys have been having a great time showing their school spirit by dressing up for the different Spirit Week themes. Excitement is especially building for the Homecoming Dance! Staff will be helping the boys choose outfits, get ready, and make sure they are prepared to enjoy a fun evening with their friends.
We are proud of the growth we continue to see in our high school boys. From budgeting and independent living skills to mentoring younger students and supporting one another, there is always something exciting happening in Rhyne Hall!
