Character Education

Each month, our students explore a different character trait that helps shape their personal growth and interactions with others. For September, we’re focusing on Character. Our girls are learning how their character influences how others perceive them and how it plays a vital role in building meaningful relationships. They’re discovering that strong character fosters trust and understanding across diverse communities.

In August, we emphasized Resiliency—the ability to bounce back from challenges. Our students learned that true strength comes from facing adversity with courage and determination. We’re proud to announce Cynthia G. as our August Character Student of the Month. Congratulations, Cynthia!

Dorm Life

With the recent stretch of mild weather, our girls have been enjoying outdoor activities in the evenings—volleyball has been a favorite! Indoors, a new wave of creativity has taken hold as many students have become interested in sewing. They’re learning both hand-sewing and machine techniques, and they’re excited to showcase their beautiful new creations.

Independent Living Skills

Our students recently put their culinary skills to the test by preparing a delicious chicken taco dinner complete with all the fixings. Through this activity, they learned essential kitchen safety practices—like proper hygiene, safe handling of perishable items, cooking to the right temperature, and knife safety. To top it off, they enjoyed a refreshing key lime pie for dessert!

Character Trait of the Month: Citizenship

We are continuing to teach and practice citizenship. Students are showing this by respecting staff and each other, keeping up with homework, keeping the dorm clean, and following the rules. These habits help build a strong and respectful dorm community.

Life Skills in the Dorm

We continue teaching cooking, cleaning, and other dorm responsibilities that are just like home skills. Recently, we celebrated a few birthdays, and some students learned how to bake cupcakes and make tacos. It was a fun way to learn and celebrate.

Daily Life and Recreation

Students are improving in their daily dorm routines. They are learning how to take care of themselves and work together. Recreation time helps them build teamwork and enjoy time with friends.

Looking Ahead

We will continue mentorship activities with high school students, helping middle school students with advice and support. The PBIS store will be opening soon. Students are earning Dragon Dollars by showing good behavior and going above and beyond in the dorm and around campus. They are excited to spend their Dragon Dollars on fun items.

Reminders for Families

Please send enough snacks and drinks to keep your child energized during the week. Make sure your child has two pairs of shoes and a raincoat or umbrella for rainy weather.

Thank you for your support. We are proud of our students and looking forward to more great moments ahead.
