Character Education
This October, we are focusing on honesty. One way we are learning this is by owning up to your mistakes. We know that everyone makes mistakes; they are a part of life and the learning process. Honesty is admitting when you make a mistake and taking ownership. This lets others know you are true to your word, even when you do something wrong.
Dorm Life
October has been a busy month. Our volleyball season has ended, but our athletes are still involved in Cross Country, Cheer, and Swimming. The girls are getting excited about Halloween. They have been making decorations for the dorm and are looking forward to showing off their costumes. They are also making decorations for their bedroom door, which will be judged by our DSLs Mat Ward and Mel Botterbusch-Goodall.
The milder weather has allowed the girls to spend more time playing outside during their free time.
We also celebrated six more birthdays! Happy birthday, Laina, Rosylia, Kaliyah, Joann, Lacey, and Braelyn!

Independent Living Skills
Our girls spent more time in the kitchen, this time making a lovely spaghetti bake dinner. They also went shopping for the ingredients. They learned how to follow a shopping list, compare prices, and keep track of their spending before checking out. What a great way to make learning fun!

Friendly Reminders
Regarding Halloween costumes, please do not send weapons or horror character costumes. Also, if your child needs any makeup for their costume please be sure to include that as well. Please be sure it is washable makeup and hair products. Thank you.

Fall Sports Wrap-Up & Winter Sports Ahead
The fall sports season has ended, and our students are now looking forward to basketball and wrestling. These activities help build teamwork, discipline, and school spirit!

PBIS Character Focus: Honesty
This month, our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) character trait is Honesty. We’ve been working with students to understand that honesty is more than just telling the truth; it’s about being trustworthy, showing integrity, and making responsible choices even when no one is watching.
Students have participated in discussions and activities that highlight:
Why honesty matters in building strong friendships and trust with staff.
How integrity impacts success in school, sports, and life.
Real-life scenarios where honesty helps solve problems and prevent conflicts.
We encourage you to talk with your student at home about honesty and share examples of how it plays an important role in your family and community. Together, we can help our students grow into responsible, respectful, and trustworthy individuals.
Life Skills & Curriculum Trips
Recently, students participated in activities that teach independence and responsibility:
Publix Empowerment Trip – Learning shopping skills.
Walmart Budgeting Activity – Comparing prices, finding the best deals, and sticking to a budget.
Practicing appropriate public behavior during outings.
After-School Activities
Students enjoy Dragons’ Lair, a fun space for socializing and playing games like dodgeball, volleyball, weightlifting, and 4-square. These activities help them stay active and build friendships.
Upcoming Event: Halloween Party
Our Recreation Department will host a Halloween Party in a few weeks!
