Gregg Hall News
Character Education
This month, our focus is on Critical Thinking and Problem Solving. Students are learning to slow down, examine information closely, and make thoughtful, informed decisions. Problem solving encourages them to recognize challenges and create effective plans to overcome them. Throughout March, we are guiding students to think before acting, use evidence when making choices, communicate and collaborate with peers, stay calm during challenges, and continue growing into confident, independent learners.
Independent Living Skills
Our students are strengthening their conflict resolution skills. The girls are learning the value of talking through challenges, seeking support when needed, and resolving issues before they escalate. They are practicing empathy, viewing situations from others’ perspectives, using respectful language, listening actively, and working toward fair, balanced solutions for everyone involved.
Dorm Life
Spring has arrived, bringing more opportunities for our girls to enjoy time outdoors. Whether they’re walking off campus for a snack or exploring nearby nature, students are loving the fresh air. They have also been using the dorm camera around campus and in the community—offering a creative glimpse into life through their eyes. We have several talented photographers in our midst!
We also took a trip to cheer on our middle school girls’ flag football team. While the team didn’t win this time, our girls had a great time supporting their fellow Dragons.

Friendly Reminders
With St. Augustine’s weather changing frequently, please make sure your child has enough appropriate clothing for the week.
Spring Break begins Friday, March 13th, and students return to the dorm on Sunday, March 22nd or Monday, March 23rd. We wish everyone a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable week with family!
McLane Hall News
The end of February and beginning of March have been active and exciting for our boys in McLane Hall. Warmer weather has encouraged students to spend more time outdoors and stay active after school. In February, our character focus on Grit helped students build perseverance, learn from their mistakes, and maintain a positive attitude even when tasks felt challenging. These important skills continue to support their growth in independence and responsibility.
As we move into March, the new character focus—Critical Thinking and Problem Solving—will guide students in thinking before reacting, examining situations from multiple perspectives, and making thoughtful decisions. They are also learning to break large tasks into smaller steps, ask meaningful questions, and understand the consequences of their choices. These skills help them navigate daily responsibilities at school, in the dorm, and in the community.

Mentorship Program
Every other week, our high school mentors visit McLane Hall to spend time with our young men. The boys enjoy asking questions about school, life, and decision making, and they love playing table games or joining the mentors outside for sports. They look up to these older students, and the mentorship continues to be a meaningful and positive influence.

Dorm Life & After School Activities
Our students stay active in a variety of after school activities, including:
Flag football and track practices
Mentorship and after school clubs
Video games with friends
Outdoor basketball and football—especially with the beautiful weather
The boys have truly embraced the sunshine and look forward to unwinding outdoors after a day of learning.

House Points Celebration
This past week, we celebrated students who demonstrated outstanding behavior, cooperation, responsibility, and overall effort. Congratulations to this quarter’s winners:
Colton G.
Diallo W.
Gaius M.
Branlin S.
Michel D.
Josiah B.
These students enjoyed a special meal at Taco Libre. Everyone else came very close and still enjoyed a fun celebration with pizza, popcorn, movies, and video games.
Curriculum
Our weekly curriculum continues building essential life skills. Students have been practicing:
Cooking and baking
Cleaning and laundry
Following safety rules
Showing respectful behavior and good manners in the dorm, cafeteria, and community settings
These routines reinforce independence and responsibility, and the boys continue to make steady progress.

Spring Break Preparation
Spring Break is coming up from March 14–22, and our students are looking forward to a well deserved week at home. They will be bringing home personal items such as bedding and clothing. If you would like your son to bring home anything additional, please let us know and we will ensure it is packed.
