Hello FSDB Families!

I want to start off by saying congratulations! We finished the first semester! I thank you and your children for your grit and perseverance. The start of this school year has really tested our creativity, patience and empathy as we continue to provide positive student learning opportunities. I look forward to a successful second semester!

FSDB successfully completed our virtual accreditation review last week with a company called Cognia. Thank you to parents who participated on interview teams. The final report should be sent to us in a couple of months. You will all have the chance to read it. For now, I wanted to share with you some of what the accreditation review team members each said during their Exit Presentation last Friday.

Professional/Organized: In person, it is easy to go into a school and look through files if you need something additional to review. Virtually, you need a different way to organize documents. You topped it! Very impressive. [related to interviews] Awesome attitudes (teachers, administration, staff) and how everyone conducted themselves. Thank you for being well prepared, organized, and professional.

Village: [related to interviews] Attitudes were engaging, passionate, and genuine. You do the exceptional work to build the whole child as you are building each other. You take pride in your work. You do an awesome job. Continue to do more, be more, and achieve more.

Strategic Practices: Every person is involved, connected, and each student has a person. You are intentional. I am in awe of how strategic you are. I have never seen anything like this. Thank you for your interconnectivity to ensure your students are successful.

Supportive Environment: In the interviews, those words kept coming up. Leadership, teachers, parents, and students shared that they felt supported and had everything they needed to do their job. I congratulate you on the supportive environment.

Cohesive Distributive Leadership: As I was reading the standards worksheet document, it came to me that you are the most distributive model I have ever seen. You have so much to share about your inner structure. I encourage you to consider how you can share that with a bigger audience.

I am so proud of our school. Proud to be a parent and have my two sons attend FSDB. Proud to serve as President. Proud of the work we do together.

A reminder that we will have our next Parent Engagement Workshop on Friday, February 12th from 10:00 am to noon on Zoom. We will have lots of great presentations planned and I will do another “President Pop In” at the end. I have enjoyed the chance to talk with the parents who have joined the last couple of meetings. Please look for the flyer from FSDB Parent Liaison, Misty Porter.

I hope you all have a fantastic long weekend and stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Tracie C. Snow

FSDB President
