James Della Penna
James M. Della Penna began his educational career as a high school English Teacher and Coach in New Jersey. When he moved to Florida, he taught English, Speech, and Drama to high school and middle school students in Palm Beach County. After becoming a National Board Certified Teacher and receiving several teaching accolades, he became an administrator in the Department of Professional Development in the Palm Beach County School District. Assisting teachers was his focus; he later became placement supervisor for student teachers and monitored their developing skills. In 2010, he was hired by FSDB to teach Language Arts in the Blind Middle School. Mr. Della Penna received recognition as FSDB Teacher of the Year for the 2013-2014 academic year, and has since 2016 served as the Assistant Principal of the combined Blind Elementary/Middle Schools which oversees academic education for blind and visually impaired students.
