Happy Labor Day! FSDB wishes everyone a fun, safe and relaxing Labor Day!

Thursday, August 29th, the entire school had a Positive Behavior Interventions and Support & Character Education (PBIS) in the lobby of Copeland Hall and outside!
Some of you may know it as the traditional Ice Cream Social, but we have decided to take a turn and do something different!
There were tropical treats such as guava pastries, coconut cake, strawberry cake, and tropical fruit trays with watermelon, strawberries, pineapple, popsicles and TONS of smiles on students' and staff's faces!

We are excited to announce the creation of customized locker name tags for our new students who joined the Blind Middle School this year! These unique tags are designed carefully and creatively to ensure each student feels special and recognized.
Steps to Create the Tags:
- Coloring: Each name tag is filled with the student’s favorite colors, making them vibrant and personalized.
- Hand Stamping: Each tag is hand-stamped with images that the students love, adding a personal touch to each tag.
- Lamination: The tags are laminated for durability, ensuring they last throughout the school year.
- Braille Labels: Clear Braille labels are added so students can independently read their names.
Magnetic Attachment: The tags come with a magnet, allowing them to move easily.
Our students have expressed immense joy and appreciation for these customized gifts. They feel valued and excited to receive something made for them, which they can use and cherish daily. This initiative enhances their school experience and fosters a sense of belonging and independence.

FSD Canoe Club was founded in 1968 by head sponsor Norman Oja. Students could participate in the canoe club; a few times a year, the club went to Ocala National Park, Suwannee River, and other places. They travel by canoe down a river all day. After canoeing, they cooked dinner at the park. There will be a two-night campout at the end of the school year in May. Students and staff were able to sleep in the tents in the park. They canoed, cooked and hiked in the park. Many students love the canoe club and have a lot of fun. The Canoe Club closed down in 1996. There are canoe club collections in the FSDB Museum.
